I recently moved into a building and was surprised to learn that we don’t have gas because of a leak. Living in NY and having two gas related explosions one year apart from each other, I’m not opposed to taking precautions and being safe. The management gave us courtesy hot plates and unfortunately, they are incredibly inefficient and it is impossible to even fry an egg on the thing. So I decided to hop on here and buy one of my own.Better Chef was an extremely nice choice. The high power plate is great for cooking rice, meats and frying in general. The medium plate is not as potent, obviously, but it is still nice to have.My favorite part is the handy on/off switch in the middle of the table. It also went great with the black and silver appliance theme I have going on.For the price, it is unbeatable. Highly recommended for emergencies.

After moving into a new efficiency that did not have a kitchen/stove, I needed an alternative, small, and affordable solution. So I looked online, found this “portable” stove, and I am VERY pleased with it.PROS:- I used it to cook rice, boil vegetables, make tea, etc. I’ve boiled a pot of water with up to 4 cups of water, and it works great. Bring it to a boil quickly. Food comes out as any other normal stove top would produce.- Sturdy design, easy functionality.CONS:- The only con would be the knobs for adjusting the heat. Sometimes, it’s a bit difficult to tell how hot exactly you’ve set the knobs to. It’s not a big deal, and after a few uses you get an idea of where the knob’s position is to determine what heat level.

This is a top notch burner. I use it to cook almost every day since I live in a place that does not have a stove. The only downside to this is that the right burner remains on and cannot be turned off so be forewarned so you don’t burn yourself. Other than that, this still deserves five stars because it cooks evenly, quickly and it heats up as well as a burner on a stove. Quality product for a great price. Highly recommend.

The “main” burner boils water almost as fast as our much larger range’s main burner.Each coil has only three supports, so when the pot is not weighted evenly, it will very easily tip over along with the coil. Using four supports would have all but eliminated this problem.Unlike another review stated, both burners can be independently turned completely off, regardless of the main power switch.

Only lasted 6 months. Is only used once a day to boil water for coffee. Left burner just stopped working. Prior to it stopping took a while to actually boil water.
