Usually don’t take time to review unless I really love something or feel like I’ve been severely ripped off, but today I’m reviewing because I feel compelled to share my experience to keep other people from getting injured.I really like most of this company’s stuff, but these connectors fail pretty dangerously. I’m a mechanical engineer, but it sure doesn’t take any degree to figure out that the failure I experienced was a result of the larger ID portion being machined too deep. There’s barely any material holding the quick connect to the MNPT portion.I purchased July 20th, 2019 and use my home air tools about once a week on average, with heavy use sporadically. This failure occurred on the blow gun I leave connected to the hose off my compressor (which means I disconnect and reconnect it relatively frequently as I generally use other tools). I also have a finish nailer I’ve used a lot more as hours in hand go with another compressor and the same fitting so it’s possible it’s not a defect in all these fittings. I think mine partially closed the valve on the female end of the quick connect based on where it failed and may have backed out some, but I’m not certain. After the failure I experienced today that luckily didn’t knock my teeth out or worse, I’ll be changing all my MNPT fittings to another type till this is resolved. I might go with Milton steel fittings as everything else I have from them has performed well and I figure it’s a little less likely someone went nuts on the lathe or whatever as steel is harder to machine, but I’ll definitely be looking at other manufacturers, too.I feel pretty confident that I don’t have a counterfeit as the box I received them in seems pretty legitimate. If I was working at Milton I’d be working on recalling these and issuing some statement regarding the defect batches as I’d be scared to death of the liability of having pressurized fittings flying apart on customers causing injury or worse.Hope this helps someone else avoid being on the receiving end of a flailing air hose…

I just had one of these fitting explode and shoot the part 15ft away. I sent the letter below to Milton. I will update with their response.nice afternoon. I have brand new 1/4″ high flow v-style fittings I’ve just started using. The female coupler just exploded sitting on the ground under 180psi. The brass tire inflate flew out about 15ft. I’m happy I, my dogs or truck wasnt struck by the exploded part. Once I found the part and removed the end of the female fitting from your companion fitting, I realized the machining of the ID was so close to the OD that it couldn’t be more then 0.01″ of material. I will know once I put my calipers up to it. I’ve got a box of 10 and am very concerned this dangerous manufacturer defect may injury myself or someone else if I use them.Edit:They didn’t answer the letter. So after a few days I called them and told them what happened. The rep on the phone was very concerned, but apparently hadn’t heard of the problem despite it being all over Amazon for months. That said, the rep did send me a return label which I used to ship the broken fitting and the other fittings back about 2 weeks ago. I’ve heard nothing yet. Will update if they ever get back to me.

So I bought these thinking that they were quality pieces. Two failed on my air cat impact wrench. 6 lug nuts and two caliper bolts where all that was required for this Quick Connect to split. After the first time I thought it was just a bad connector. Took the risk to put on a second and lo and behold almost exactly the same failure point on the other side of the car. I had plenty of hose with a wobbler lead on it. 80 psi. Disappointed in Milton for this.

They’re air fittings, they’re made of brass and for a box of 10 I thought the price was nice. I needed a new air hose so I took the opportunity to replace all my existing fittings and couplers with the V style, brass ones from Milton. Can’t say as I can tell a big difference between these and my old fittings from a performance perspective. I will say this, everything works as well as it ever did. Guessing these will last pretty much forever.

I bought these to upgrade my air tools that I use in my home garage. The intent was to use this V-style couple system to improve CFM air flow. Within the first hour of use it snapped clean off above the thread on my 1/2” impact gun. I thought maybe it was just a fluke so I put another on. 20 minutes later, same thing, snapped off above the threads. I’m careful with my tools and was doing nothing that would warrant this type of failure. I decided to try and use my 3/8” air rachet with this same fitting. Yep, snapped off in the same place within the first few minutes of use. Don’t bother purchasing these unless you absolutely baby your tools and enjoy having the whipping end of a free flowing 90psi. air line come whizzing by.

It seems to me that Milton had a bad batch of these. You see 1 star reviews from late July to September of 2019. Like many other 1 star reviews from this time frame, I’ve found that they break easily. I didn’t even drop mine. The vibration caused from my IR impact gun is enough to break them off. Went through 2 in 5 minutes. Like others have posted, the hole drilled from threaded end of the fitting is too deep and you end up with about .010″ of wall thickness at the first step of the plug. Unfortunately it seems that my return window has expired, so I’ll contact Milton. I do love the fittings. If only that hole depth was 1/8″ less. Since these have been on the market a while, I assume they were made wrong or toleranced wrong. If anyone from Milton is reading this, my box has a “19171” on it which could be a date code helpful in identifying the bad batch.

I was happy with my Milton V style fittings. They seemed to flow better than the typical, cheap CH fittings from Walmart. Then, they started snapping into pieces one by one. If I would place my impact gun on the ground and accidentally step or trip on the hose, the leverage on the fittings made them break. I’m not tough on my tools. I place them deliberately, try not to step on them or slam them around yet after I broke 3 fittings in one day I had enough.

Makes a HUGE difference when used with BINKS HVLP spray guns with larger nozzles. A 1.8mm+ fluid nozzle needs lots of air especially with gravity or siphon feed. The hole in the “V” series connectors is about twice the size in “regular” 1/4 NPT fittings. I am now changing ALL of my air fittings to Milton “V”. Also helps with air wrenches and sand blasters.
