So, I got this from amazon like new in orginal box. Its a gift for my 8 year old, who likely wont care about it after a week. So I sometimes get Amazon’s open box discount items. I’ve never had a problem, but this item came loose in the brown shipping box. I called amazon for an exchange. Customer service read up on the item and assured me it was a mistake. Nope second one was loose in brown shipping box too. And missing screws for the unit to attach to pole. So just know what you are buying. As for function of item, not too nice, but fine for a kid in the yard or beach. I took a quarter flat and ran it across the plate at different heights, the two knobs on the unit were set in the middle. It could only detect the quarter about 4 inches away, and only over some of the plate. However I’m really not sure how you test this, and my review is more aimed at letting others know this is not like new, or shipped well.

I bought this at a discounted price through Amazon Warehouse. I’ve always been happy with the products I’ve received through them up until this purchase. The pole that holds the sensor was literally snap in half making it unusable. Luckily, I had some plastic weld on hand and was able to fix it. The discount wasn’t deep enough to receive a product in such bad condition, nor was that disclosed in the description. Anyone else would have raised a stink about it.Now on to the detector functionality…it is very user friendly. Just about anyone who can walk can figure out how to turn it on and start detecting. It’s simplicity is what I like most about it. I mainly have used it to recover arrows that have missed the target and aren’t easy to spot. It works great for that. I have also, on a few occasions, taken it out on trails and have done some detection along the river. I have yet to come back empty handed so it does what it’s supposed to do! It’s easy to handle and is light weight. I highly recommend this product for people – like me – who are just starting out and children who have interest in doing such things.

This detector gives my minelab equinox a run for its money. Sure it doesn’t go as deep, or provide a display telling you what you might be looking at. But it more than makes up for it in ease of use, and ease of learning. My friend took this thing out and found coins all over the place, and he learned quick enough to identify targets by the tone. Frequently he would be digging coins at a rate much faster than me. In fairness, I”m still learning the minelab, but this little detector is absolutely impressive. And its an extremely nice learning machine, PLUS it detects gold like a hound dog finds raccoons. I wouldn’t buy any other machine for a beginner to learn on. It finds things, and that’s what it’s all about. Plus its lite weight and simplicity makes it a lot of fun to use. Get one, the price is so low you will not find another detector that can do what this does for anywhere near the money. I speak from years of experience detecting with many brands. It’s not a toy, it’s capable of finding real gold, and real coins. If you’re new to detecting get this one and you will never be sorry when you upgrade. Or just keep it for the kids or the beach or park..Side note: We were detecting a yard where a family of 11 kids lived and played and they lost money all over the place. The ground is terrible with rocks and trash too. Hard to dig, but it still delivered the nices and lots of fun. …

Bought this detector specifically to find a buried property line iron rod that had eluded previous efforts of extensive digging around. At first I found several odd bits of metal that had been buried for ages, but within a 1/2 hour I found the iron rod and flag buried a few inches below the surface. I would never have found that metal pin without this detector. The original surveying company would have charged me $600 to find the pin, so this detector saved me $540.

This thing is very nice, and is so fun to use! If you’re considering it, buy it! It is very light, very easy to use, and overall is accurate! We have already found tons of thing with it, some of which required it to be pretty sensitive! Like old wrought iron nails 6-8 inches down! We have also found a lot of soda cans a few inches down, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Overall, this thing is tons of fun, easy to use, and I would definitely recommend for someone like us who is just getting into metal detecting and wants something that you can use right out of the box. We take our kids out sometimes, and it is easy enough to use to where they can, as well! I would highly recommend it!

I bought this because we are in the area where soldiers from the civil war used as a campground on their March to Gettysburg. We’ve found some pretty neat bullets. We’ve used it for a week straight. Makes you feel like a kid treasure hunting if my youngster are enjoying the hunts. We’ve found things about a foot deep so far. It’s easy to use. Light weight. The only down side is it sounds like the plastic box is going to crack. May just need tightened. Maybe not we shall see.

This works pretty well. The only complaint is the trash eliminator could be better.I tested it on various items to listen to tones and aluminum cans make the same sound as coins.Rings and jewelry make to same dull sound like some scrap metal that I dug up. So it does detect metal, but you’ll be doing a lot of digging.

Bought this as a hobby and love going out treasure hunting looking for hidden unknown treasures. Get excited when I get a beep and dig up coins, bottle caps and hopefully one day gold…lol. love this detector and great value for the price. Works great.

It is able to detect small bits of tinfoil. It makes the same beep no matter what, so it’s not one of those where you can tell what it is by the sound. It is not able to detect copper wire, I tried multiple extension cords.
