Are there better quality kits on the market these days than AMT?AMT kits suck because:1. they are too expensive for the low quality2. the parts lack precision and extremely nice fit3. many parts don’t have holes/slots/grooves for other parts with tabs to insert into4. the instructions aren’t very nice5. the assembly diagrams aren’t very clear as to where to precisely locate parts6. some parts don’t fit well7. some parts are put into hollow places and they are allowed a certain degree of rotation as the transmission and the engine bell housing: there should be a keyway with a tab to keep these mating parts from rotating upon each another and why doesn’t the rocker covers have tabs to mate with holes in the top of the engine’s head? I’m working on the W-925 Kenworth tractor right now.The limp stretchy niceyear vinyl tires are cheesy and not made of nice firm well-fitting rubber. The bead area is too large in diameter to fit the rims snugly. I tried using that 3/8″ foam rod stuff. The beads of the tires just get pushed right over the measly little flanges of the rims under the pressure of the stuffing material. The visor for the top of the cab has no tabs/holes to locate it. Where am I going to apply the cement? Both the cab and the visor are to be custom painted but cement doesn’t adhere well to paint. With mating tabs and holes I normally scrape the paint away on those spots and put glue there. There is no precise way to locate the 5 marker lights on top of the cab. This expensive plastic AMT kit is rather mickey-mouse quality. Is Revell or Monogram much better in overall quality than AMT? Virtually every Monogram kit model had snap-together parts with optional gluing.For close to $40, I’m rather disappointed with this AMT Kenworth kit. I expected much better for the price.

Reissue, with original early 70’s box art. Flashing is minimal, surprising given how the old AMT injection molds weren’t of the best quality. Take your time assembling the framerails and crossmembers, as some filing and sanding will be needed to ensure a proper fit. All in all, a decent kit that presents well when careful assembly techniques are employed. Don’t expect Revell or Italeri levels of quality, but it CAN be built to a nice result.

Box was damaged had a hole through plastic and box. Parts were off the parts trees. Luckily nothing was broken. Kit was as advertised husband had been looking for this specific truck

I dislike the ideal that the parts are not marked or numbered so you can put the model together.i would send it back but I have had it to long to do that.so I am stuck with a model which I cannot put together.because ..

This is an older kit as such, the parts are not numbered on the sprues. But my two biggest complaints are:1. The kit does not contain the decals for the truck featured in the 70’s TV show “Moving On.”2. Many of the parts are chrome plated like the engine oil pan and turbocharger. While this may have been a “neat” feature when this kit was originally released, it makes for added work for the modeler seeking to build a realistic model.

Have not built this kit yet but looks nice upon inspection. The parts were packaged well. Nothing appears to be missing or broken. Instructions look right.

A really nice rig came togother great .alittle unhappy i was missing a air tank that fit inside the frame… But other than i like it alot because kenworth is num 1 in my book. Thanks again for another great truck!

This is not the truck from the TV show, and it doesn’t come with the decals for the Moving On truck. But you can get them from other online sources. All in all, not a bad build, like any other model, take your time and your going to have a great piece for your shelf.
